Charlene, you are welcomed to call me in my office if you have questions. As I went over in the meeting yesterday, there is an expectation that students participate every day in our school activities while they are in attendance. Our philosophy is that kids will give us their best performance in each of the 180 days they are in attendance. If you choose to keep your students home during any activity you do not wish for your students to participate in, we will do our best to work with you. On a side note, thank you for coming to the meeting last night.
In the future, please do not contact teachers directly with requests to undermine directives given by our administration. It would be much more productive for us to have conversations like we have had over the past few months. The style of communication you chose today is a clear step backwards. As unfortunate as the step you took was, I feel very strongly that building relationships with every one of our parents is a high priority. I hope you will take a step forward and reach out to the administration with any questions you may have. I am not a believer in email tag. Our conversations will be over the phone or face to face going forward regarding this situation/topic.
I am going to request that teachers do not respond to your emails without my permission and knowledge of the situation. In addition, please do not reply all to this email. I felt it was necessary for the staff you included to be aware of my reply. Your email address will be blocked if you continue with this form of communication with our staff.
Thank you for your consideration,
Dan
